Looking for Courses and Programs

Dear Colleagues,
I have been searching for courses and degrees in Educational Technology for undergradute, in particular community college courses and degrees, as well as graduate courses.
Are there certificate programs, or AAS degrees or BA/BS degrees?
We have put together a fairly extensive training program for our ITT (Instructional Technology Tutor) Program which includes hardware installation and troubleshooting skills, Level I and II CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) certifications, SMART training and Bb training.  We recruit Education (AAS) majors as well as Math and Science majors for most of the tutors.  I know there are various permutations of the ITTs at several CUNY institutions and I am interested in possibly taking this instructional to a higher level in the form of credit-bearing courses.
  Any answers, suggestions, or links?

  1. There seem to be many roles fulfilled by ITTs as we refer to them at BCC across CUNY.
I was looking for a model of some kind in order to possibly propose an A.A.S. degree in Instructional or Educational Technology. Perhaps a degree between campuses, or developing a two-year degree (A.S.) that would articulate with a four year school would be a possibility as well.

  2. Hi Stephen,

I’m so happy that this worked out! This is, indeed, exactly the kind of chance exchange that we imagined when we first conceived of the Commons!

  3. Matthew,
Thank you for the link. This gives me a start that will save me hours of research. I am looking for degrees that prepare teachers of Early Childhood and Childhood aged children (Pre-K through Grade Six), although I think the jr. high and high school curriculum will give me a place to start if I cannot locate the elementary sites I seek.
Thanks again for the response and for making this kind of outreach and dialogue possible,
    Steve

  4. Hi Stephen,

Great question, but it’s one that falls outside of my bailiwick. I do know that City Tech has a few programs in Career and Technology Teacher Education (http://is.gd/wCrE), but I’m not sure whether or not they are the kind of thing you’re looking for. Good luck with the search!
